Why use Hypnotherapy as a healing therapy?

Hypnotherapy has been used as a natural healing technique for centuries. The actual experience of hypnosis is difficult to describe, neither asleep nor awake, but similar to that period of daydreaming before you go off to sleep. Therefore, hypnotherapy is characterised by a feeling of deep relaxation, during which acceptable suggestions may enter the subconscious to elicit a positive change in old habits and beliefs.

Recent research has shown that hypnotherapy can be a valuable therapeutic tool to aid the treatment of many medical conditions. Hypnosis can also be used successfully as an aid for the resolution of many problems of psychological origins.

Amanda Gwynne Consultancy offers a combination of hypnotherapy and Emotional Freedom Technique during sessions to offer a holistic approach for  clients suffering with many problems including:

  • Asthma
  • Childbirth
  • Fear & anxiety
  • Habits eg. nail biting
  • Insomnia
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Performance/public speaking
  • Phobias/PTSD
  • Stress management
  • Smoking
  • Tension headaches and migraine
  • Weight control
  • Gastric Band Therapy
All clients are taught self-hypnosis and EFT techniques empowering them to continue their treatment at home, between sessions with Amanda.

What is involved with my therapy sessions?

Amanda Gwynne Consultancy offers a full confidential consultation, and discussion about your treatment plan. Some issues may be resolved after one session, but others will require a course of treatments.

During your hypnotherapy session, you will feel deeply relaxed physically, but remain alert mentally and able to communicate with me either by signals or speech. Prior to the end of your session, you will be taught self-hypnosis and relaxation techniques which will enable you to continue your own sessions at home.

Payment is made either at the beginning or end of each session, and a further appointment made if required.

Q & A:

  • Is hypnosis sleep? - Hypnosis is not sleep, however it is a deep form of relaxation.
  • Is hypnosis safe? - Hypnosis is completely safe. It is similar meditation/visualisation. You are aware and in control all the time during your session.
  • Can anyone be hypnotised? - Anyone can be hypnotised as long as they are happy to do so. In fact we all drift in and out of natural hypnosis every day.
  • Will I get stuck in hypnosis? - You will not get stuck in a hypnotic trance and will either awaken when your therapist suggests or if at home will naturally emerge from hypnosis whenever you are ready to do so.

The Rewind Technique

Amanda Gwynne Consultancy is available to treat your PTSD or phobia comfortably and quickly. The Rewind Technique is a tried-and-tested approach to treating PTSD and phobias For many years, severe anxiety-based conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder or phobias were considered treatable only through long, painful exposure therapy, and in some cases, not at all. Now, thankfully, we have access to a comfortable, effective treatment that can greatly reduce, and even remove, traumatic or phobic symptoms quickly.

The Rewind Technique does not need you to go over the traumatic incident(s) again. Many people with trauma or phobias have been treated using approaches which drag them back through the experience again; a highly unpleasant thing to have to do. This does not happen with the Rewind, and I do not in fact even need to know the details of what happened to you. So if you suffer from PTSD or phobias I think I can help, so please give me a call on 07818 415516 and I can tell you anything else you need to know. to find out some more information about the Rewind Technique, follow the  link to this article: http://www.unk.com/blog/no-need-to-relive-the-trauma/
Research results for the Rewind Technique
Research results for the Rewind Technique Although research into the Rewind Technique is still in its infancy, one study [http://www.hgi.org.uk/archive/rewindevidence2.htm] carried out by the Human Givens Institute in the UK showed the following results: Study size: 30 people ? 40% of clients rated rewind as extremely successful; ? 53% rated it as successful ? 7% rated it as acceptable. No one rated the Rewind Technique poor or as a failure. ? Prior to rewind, on average clients rated their well being as 12 out of 50. ? Seven to 10 days after treatment, the average score was 30.3 out of 50. ? Three to six months later, the average score was 32.2. This represents an improvement of 167.4 per cent on their original ratings. A four-year study carried out within NOVA [http://www.try-nova.org/] (part of the BarnardoĆs charity) showed similarly impressive results: Study size: 47 people, 57% of whom treated with Rewind alone. ? 26 would have met the criteria for PTSD. ? After treatment none of the forty-seven people treated met the criteria for PTSD. ? There was also a significant reduction of all sub symptoms associated with PTSD, five categories had zero reports after treatment. (Human Given journal Volume 14, No 4- 2007)

 Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Based on the ancient principals of acupressure, EFT is a simple tapping procedure that gently re-aligns the body's energy system. EFT incorporates an emotional element to the healing process, addressing unresolved emotional issues, which may be a factor in physical disease and psychological imbalances.  Amanda Gwynne Consultancy includes this technique for clients attending for hypnotherapy sessions.
